Philippine Carmelites signs agreement with philanthropic group

By Br. Ritche T. Salgado, O.Carm.

In order to realize its mission in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, the Order of Carmelites in the Philippines has sought the help of philanthropic consultancy group, Spring Rain Global.

Spring Rain Global has been helping the Order in professionalizing its various ministies by setting up the O.Carm. Development Center – Philanthropic Development Office (O.Carm. DC-PDO) and in linking them with other philanthropic offices through the SRG Ecosystem.

Fr. Ponce is hopeful that with the partnership agreement, the fund generation efforts of the Province would become more efficient and its donor-care program be able to build a more meaningful relationship between the Order and its donors.

“The COVID-19 pandemic posed a very alarming challenge in our finances, leading to our difficulty in funding essential ministries of the Province,” said Fr. Ponce adding that this is one of the main reasons why they sought the help of SRG.

“Already we have mapped out plans for us to be able to generate more funds, especially in this time of the pandemic,” he added.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Glenda Antonio, founder, president and CEO of Spring Rain Global and Fr. Rico Ponce, O.Carm., prior provincial, at San Alberto Carmelite Formation Center in Cebu City and is effective for one year. It was witnessed by Fr. Esmeraldo Reforeal, provincial council member, and Nicole Justo of SRG.
