Philippine Carmel Provincial appointed to Carmelite Institute in Rome

Fr. Rico Ponce, O.Carm., Prior Provincial of the Philippine Carmelite Province of St. Titus Brandsma, has just been appointed member of the Scientific Board of the Institutum Carmelitanum.

The appointment, made by the General Council, was announced during the Session 158 last May 31. It was formally given on June 13 and signed by Prior General Fr. Miceal O’Neill, O.Carm., and Secretary General Fr. Roberto Sianturi, O.Carm.

“It is an honor to serve the Order in this capacity,” the Prior Provincial said in a statement. “I am looking forward to working with our fellow Carmelites and exploring further the riches of our Order.”

The Decree of Appointment lasts for a period of six years from the date of its issuance.

The Institutum Carmelitanum organizes Scientific and Academic researches and conferences for the promotion of the Carmelite history and charism through academic journals, books, and other publications.
