And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Fr. Crispin Offermans was born in Geilenckrichen, Germany on October 17, 1935. He professed his vows on October 3, 1955 and ordained a priest on July 10, 1960.
In 1964 he arrived in the Philippines and was assigned at Mount Carmel College in Escalante, Negros Occidental. Eventually, he chose to involve himself in social action and embraced the justice and peace work of the Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines through its mission partners and task forces.
In 1985 he was elected to lead Carmel Philippines as Commissary Provincial, a position he served until his death from lung cancer in 1991.
Fr. Crispin was buried in Landgraaf, the Netherlands.
Today, let us remember Fr. Crispin in our prayers.
Always remembering you Joep, your down to earth transformation from the academe to being pastoral with the Filipinos in Negros and in Mindanao. We rode our journey in the mountains. You were also in AMRSP as Liaison for the Religious and Human Rights organizations during my stint in TFDP. Happy to have met you in first week of August 1991 after my Strasbourg Human Rights course in Landgraaf brought by confrere Fr. Martin Pierik, O. Carm. Your last words while lying in your brother’s home, were still hope of coming back to the Philippines. You have fortified the Carmelites and our People. Thanking God for your life. God’s Carmel stays in our hearts for as long as we live 💞
