The Order of Carmelites in the Philippines expressed its congratulations to the Lay Carmelite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary (TOC) after successfully holding its national convention online.
“Despite the challenges of the pandemic our lay sisters and brothers in Carmel was able to come together to formulate important policies and discuss important documents that would help give direction to the different TOC communities in the country,” said Philippine Carmelite Prior Provincial Very Rev. Fr. Rico P. Ponce, O.Carm.
In a letter to the new national leadership of the TOC, the prior provincial and council of the first Order expressed its congratulations to the newly-elected members of the national council.
“We wish you all the best in leading the TOC in this very challenging time,” it said.
“Together, let us tread the path which our great confreres have trod, trusting in a God of life, love, and freedom,” it continued.
“We journey together, caring and praying for each other and ministering to the people entrusted to us,” the letter concludes.
The TOC National Convention was held via online conferencing for five Saturdays starting May 29 and ending on June 26. It was facilitated by Fr. Baltazar Ronato, O.Carm., provincial delegate to the Third Order Carmelites.
Elected are Bro. Alejandro Bautista (TOC Barasoain) as prior and Sis Catherine Peachy Roa (TOC Project 7, Quezon City), Sis Crisanta Alimagno (TOC Las Piñas), Sis Cristina Guillerme (TOC Cubao), and Sis Mary Ann Navalta (TOC Project 7, Quezon City) as councilors.
