11 Carmelite brothers awarded with master’s degree

Eleven brothers of the Order of Carmelites in the Philippines were granted Master’s degree from the Inter-Congregational Theological Center – Our Lady of the Angels Seminary Graduate School.

During the first virtual graduation of the institution, Rev. Joiezl Fern Piñon, O.Carm. received the highest honors given by the institution as Summa Cum Laude and Best Thesis for his work entitled, “Redesigning the Balik Handog into a Comprehensive Grassroots-Based Economic Stewardship Program for the Basic Ecclesial Communities of St. Paul of the Cross Parish, Bagong Silang in the Light of 2 Corinthians 8:12-15.”

Meanwhile Brothers Romualdo de los Reyes, O.Carm., Marjune Caloring, O.Carm., Rolando Mamites, O.Carm. and Flor Vincent Taoc, O.Carm. received the honors of Magna Cum Laude.

While those awarded with the honors of Cum Laude are Brothers Mechael Tating, O.Carm., Jade Gerona, O.Carm., Rio Mar Sindac, O.Carm., Vincent Sumanting, O.Carm., and Ritche Salgado, O.Carm.

The graduates for the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry are Piñon and Salgado. The thesis of Salgado entitled “Proposing a Pastoral Program for Persons with Disability in San Vicente Ferrer Parish in Bagac, Bataan in the Light of John 9:1-7,” was also recognized.

The graduates for Master in Pastoral Ministry major in Pastoral Management are brothers Romualdo de los Reyes, Kim Paul Escobal, Marjune Caloring, Jade Gerona, Rolando Mamites, Rio Mar Sindac, Vincent Sumanting, Flor Vincent Taoc, and Mechael Tating.

Mamites’ final paper entitled “Servanthood: A Pastoral Program Addressing Indignation Among the Youth of the Blessed Community of Christ Ministries, Nagpayong, Pasig Chapter in the Light of John 13:1-20,” was recognized as the Best Integration Paper.

The Prior Provincial and Council sent their congratulations to the brothers through a fraternal letter expressing their appreciation to past and present formators and professors of the brothers.

They also extended their gratitude to the benefactors “who have helped sustain all the stages of our formation program, assisting our young brothers so generously with their financial support and encouraging presence.”

The ceremony was held through Zoom and streamed live through the Facebook page of the institution.
